How to request a home visit

The home
visiting service is for patients who are
too ill or infirm to travel,
i.e. those that are truly housebound. |
It is usually preferable for the doctors to
see patients in surgery, when at all possible,
as a more thorough examination is possible.
Where possible please make requests for home
visits before 10.00am as this helps the doctors
to plan their visits.
When booking a home visit with the reception
staff, please give full and clear contact
details, current address and home address (if
different) and problem to enable the doctor to
assess and plan accordingly.
The reception staff will then pass on the
request to the doctors, who usually visit after
morning surgery or as soon as time allows.
Sometimes the doctor will ring to assess the
problem and see how urgent it is or whether it
is possible to attend the surgery. Non urgent
visits may be postponed until the patient's
regular doctor is available, or if requests are
numerous.
Home visits are allocated in surgery by the
doctors and unfortunately a choice of doctor
cannot be made.
