Nursing Profiles
Practice nurses
We have a team of three practice nurses, who
run our busy, well equipped
treatment rooms. They manage dressings, stitch
and clip removal, blood pressure monitoring,
diet and weight management, ear syringing, blood
and urine testing and specialist clinics.
Sister Sue Essex
Registered Nurse qualified 1970’s Great Ormond
Street.
Sue joined the surgery back in 1988 and as well
as general treatment room duties she specialises
in asthma, chronic pulmonary disease, coronary
heart disease, family planning, women’s health
and child immunisations.
Sister Shirley Chant
Registered Nurse qualified 1970’s Frenchay.
Shirley joined the surgery in 1993 and
specialises in diabetes. She is qualified
in family planning and women’s health and also
carries out the full range of general treatment
room work.
Sister Sue Sanders
Registered Nurse qualified 1980’s UBHT.
Sue is the lead nurse in coronary heart disease
and smoking cessation. She is also qualified in
diabetes and family planning. Other areas of interest are
blood pressure monitoring, wound care and travel
consultations.
Health care assistants/Phlebotomists
Claire Britton: NVQ3
Phlebotomy, blood pressure, ear syringing, ECG
and drug monitoring, hosiery change, new patient
health checks, smoking cessation, stitch and
clip removal
and assists the GP’s fitting coils.
Karen Thorne
Phlebotomy, blood pressure, ECG monitoring, new
patient health checks and weight management.
