How to book an appointment, request a repeat prescription and view medical records online (Patient Access)


Patients can book, cancel or check routine GP appointments online via Patient Access. There is a limit to the number of appointments you can book online and this is reduced if you already have other appointments booked (even with a nurse). Urgent GP appointments, Nurse or Healthcare Assistant appointments can only be booked by telephone or by visiting the surgery.


Routine repeat prescriptions can be requested online. Acute or past medication cannot be ordered in this way. Requests for these or changes in medication should be submitted separately in writing for assessment by a doctor.

Medical Records

You are able to view your allergies, medications and immunisations online.

Access to more detailed ‘coded’ medical records can be made available upon application. Please attend the surgery in person with photographic evidence of your identity and a written, signed request.

Is the system secure?

Patient Access is supplied by EMIS, our clinical computer system provider. All communication with the site is encrypted and only the person logged in with your User ID and password can view your personal information, so it is very important that you keep these details safe. You should also resist attempts by unscrupulous scammers to take over your computer and make it a habit to scan your computer for malware and viruses on a regular basis.

Please contact the surgery if you lose your login details or believe them to be compromised. A fresh registration document can be issued which will supercede your previous login details (which will no longer work).

What do I need to do to get started?

You must call in personally to the surgery bringing photo ID (passport or driving licence). We cannot accept requests for friends or family members, unless for children under 16 or with written, signed consent. Once identified, you will be given a document containing sufficient information to allow you to register for the service.

Once I have the necessary paperwork what do I do next?

Click here, enter your registration details as requested and follow the remaining instructions. You should then be able to log in whenever you like. There are also free Patient Access apps available for Android and iOS tablets and phones which will allow you similar access.

Abuse of the system

Please note the practice reserves the right to block your use of Patient Access. The main reasons for doing this would be:

  • Persistent failure to attend appointments made online
  • Persistent multiple booking of appointments
  • If we believe you are being coerced by another party
